It looks like my betta has a pimple?

I can%26#039;t get a picture, he won%26#039;t sit still. But it%26#039;s on his right side, below his eye. My tank is in good shape (he%26#039;s in a 5 gallon) and the spot looks just like a pimple, raised up with a white spot at the end. I%26#039;ll keep trying for a pic.

He has also developed a white spot on each of his eyes, is whatever causing his %26quot;pimple%26quot; causing this? Help!|||Ich looks more like salt that was sprinkled on the fish.

What you are describing sounds like it could be a bacterial infection or worse, a parasite or fungus. I would do a big water change in his tank, 50%, and add some medicine to the water and start treating him.

Melafix

Quickcure

Pimafix

Maracyn

Those are 4 of the medications I have always used with my bettas now and in the past!|||The simple uncomplicated answer are flukes, they are parasites. Treat him for that along with a salt bath and raise the temp to 80 degrees f in the tank. You can take the parasite out with a pair of tweezers after having anesthetized him.

How to anesthetize your fish for removing parasites[toward the top of the page, using clove oil, just don%26#039;t continue with the vodka]:

By anesthetizing him with the emulsified clove oil you will save a lot of thrashing, just be sure to use tank water and wear gloves.

|||It%26#039;s probably Ick. You should go to your pet store, where you got him, or a specialized place for fish, and you should ask them if they have treatment for Ick. It%26#039;s good that you have caught it at an early stage. As you said, he won%26#039;t stop moving - this means he is still healthy. Try to get the treatment going, and see how he is doing in about a week or two. Good luck!
